BBC’s “The Conversation” Features Lolita Ritmanis

Exclusive Interview – Dynamic Music Partners talks Young Justice: Outsiders, The Zeta Project, and DC music

BBC’s “The Conversation” with host Nelufar Hedayat featured DMP’s Composer Lolita Ritmanis along with Icelandic composer Hildur Guðnadóttir. How to break the ‘celluloid ceiling’ in the movie industry, a term used to describe the under-representation of women in Hollywood? The numbers are particularly shocking when it comes to film soundtracks. In 2018, 94% of the music in Hollywood’s highest grossing films was composed by men, according to the Center for the Study of Women in Television and Film at San Diego State University. Nelufar Hedayat asks two successful female composers why the numbers are so low and what can be done to close the gap?
Hildur Guðnadóttir is an Icelandic composer, cellist and singer who is at the forefront of experimental pop music. She has composed a number of film scores, including Sicario: Day of the Soldado and the 2019 Joker film, starring Joaquin Phoenix, both of which have been described as ‘macho’ big budget features. She says she got in through the back door, because of the particular experimental style she has developed, and was surprised by the response she got when she arrived in Hollywood.
Lolita Ritmanis is an Emmy Award-winning American composer, who is best known for the memorable themes she’s created for iconic superheroes, including for the animated series, Justice League. Lolita is the co-founder of the Alliance for Women Film Composers, which aims to increase the visibility of female composers in the film industry.

“Young Justice Season 3” Captures #1 Streaming Spot

DC Universe dominated streaming this week with its two original shows at the top of this week’s list of the most in-demand streaming shows: “Titans” and, at the #1 spot, its latest animated series, “Young Justice: Outsiders,” a revival of Cartoon Network’s “Young Justice.”
Every week, Parrot Analytics provides Business Insider with a list of the seven most “in-demand” TV shows on streaming services. The data is based on “demand expressions,” the globally standardized TV demand measurement unit from Parrot Analytics. Audience demand reflects the desire, engagement, and viewership weighted by importance, so a stream or download is a higher expression of demand than a “like” or comment on social media.

New CD Releases: “Batman & Harley”,”Batman vs. Two-Face”

New CD Releases: “Batman & Harley”,”Batman vs. Two-Face”

WaterTower Music has just released two new soundtracks of our music: “Batman and Harley Quinn: Music From The DC Universe Original Movie” and “Batman Vs. Two-Face: Music From The DC Animated Movie”! The soundtracks are available at all digital music providers and on CD exclusively at FYE stores.
“Batman vs. Two-Face” gave us one final opportunity to honor the late Adam West as Batman, with all the Bams! Zings! and Pows! made famous by the original television series music written by musical icons Neil Hefti and Nelson Riddle. With “Harley Quinn,” we returned to the musical world of “Batman: The Animated Series,” which was our first collaboration with Bruce Timm as part of Shirley Walker’s team. Along with recreating that Dark Deco mood, we also paid homage to some of the greatest jazz scores of the 70’s and 80’s. Our long creative history with producer Bruce Timm usually allows for a musical and dramatic shorthand while discussing the score; this particular project, with its comedic twists and turns, really kept us on our toes!
We worked with our key music team on the scores (engineers Mark Mattson and Mako Sujishi, woodwind player John Yoakum, Greg Herzenach on guitars, Andris Mattson playing trumpet on “Two-Face,” and trumpet legend Wayne Bergeron on “Harley”) to take the listener on journeys that are simultaneously familiar and fresh for fans who will undoubtedly appreciate these distinct takes on the Batman universe.

“Batman and Harley Quinn” Theatrical & Home Video Release

“Batman and Harley Quinn” Theatrical & Home Video Release

From an original story by animation icon Bruce Timm, comes an all-new DC Universe animated movie. Poison Ivy and Jason Woodrue (a.k.a. The Floronic Man) embark on an ecological quest to save the planet – and, unfortunately, eliminate most of humankind along the way. To save humanity, Batman and Nightwing are forced to enlist Harley Quinn to catch Poison Ivy, Harley’s BFF and frequent partner-in-crime. But Batman’s patience is put to the test by the unpredictable and untrustworthy Harley during the twists and turns the reluctant companions face during their bumpy road trip. The result is a thrill ride of action, adventure and comedy no Batman fan has seen before.
Batman and Harley Quinn features a stellar voice cast led by Kevin Conroy (Batman: The Animated Series) reprising his role as the Dark Knight, alongside Melissa Rauch (The Big Bang Theory) making her debut as the irrepressible Harley Quinn. Loren Lester, the voice of Robin in Batman: The Animated Series, returns as Nightwing.
The film will have a limited theatrical release through Fathom Events on Monday, August 14, 2017, and will be released on digital on August 15, 2017 before releasing on DVD and Blu-ray on August 29.
