DMP’s Lolita Ritmanis Conducts 450 Voice Massed Choir Plus Orchestra at the XIV Latvian Song Festival in Canada

Lolita recently returned from Hamilton, ON, where she had the great honor of conducting at the XIV Latvian Song Festival in Canada. The composition: “Dziesmu Pinu, Deju Pinu” (translation: I wove a song, I wove a dance) is a work specifically composed for this festival (text by Andris Ritmanis.) Lolita was thrilled to work with the 450 voice massed choir, comprised of singers from around the world, along with the chamber orchestra, comprised of Canadian musicians, along with several international guest musicians. The choirs had been preparing for the concert throughout this past year. Lolita has dual citizenship (USA and Latvia.) Latvian Song Festivals are held yearly, with the largest festivals happening in Riga, Latvia every 5 years, where the size of the massed choir exceeds 10,000 singers.
